June 15th

It seems that every run just gets harder and harder but I always do more and push myself farther! So, this evening I ran 3 miles in 40:49! I had intended on 4 miles tonight but once I hit 2 miles, my body felt like it weighed a lot more than usual. Here's the breakdown:

5 min - 5.0 mph
2 min - 3.5 mph
5 min - 5.0 mph
2 min - 3.5 mph
5 min - 5.0 mph
2 min - 3.5 mph
5 min - 5.0 mph (~2 miles here)
2 min - 3.5 mph
2 min - 4.9 mph
2 min - 3.5 mph
2 min - 4.8 mph
2 min - 3.5 mph
2 min - 4.7 mph
2:39 - 3.5 mph

In total that is 14:39 walking and 26 min running! Woo hoo! Even though I didn't reach the distance I had planned on, I think I had a pretty darn good workout! Now time for a shower (since I'm already soaked as usual) and a little epsom salt bath then ice maybe. I'd love to hear some recovery strategies from my readers. What do you do and in what order directly after you run?? Leave a comment!

P.S. My new socks are incredible! I should have gotten them a long time ago, or rather at least when I started. I've currently been wearing Drymax Light Mesh running with no-show tab. They get 10 out of 10 stars!

  1. maybe kind of random and I can't tell you exactly how it works after biochem and Dr. G basically saying lactic acid build up was a myth... But during basketball season at Ball State we would have recovery days and some of the things we would do is get a massage (oh so nice haha) and lay on our backs on the floor with out legs up at 90 degrees against a wall until our feet got really tingly (if that makes sense, it was supposed to help drain the crud out of our legs and through out lymph system to be recycled out of the body, but again after biochem... idk the mechanism for sure or if it really works..) Another remedy are ice baths. We would fill whorl pools up with ice water and sit in out bathing suits (SO COLD, but a oh so good kind of feeling after.)

Ok if you couldn't tell I cant sleep tonight so I stumbled onto your blog and in my delirium commented :P See you in a few hours!
